These Terms govern your use of Marginalia, a service provided by Gallus Insight("we", "us"). By using Marginalia you agree to these Terms. account settings ("we", "us"). By using the service you agree to these Terms. If you represent an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

The service

Marginalia is a web application that identifies books from photographs of covers and bookshelves, and produces insights and recommendations based on the resulting library.

Acceptable use

You must not: use the service unlawfully; upload content you do not have rights to; attempt to gain unauthorized access; interfere with the service (malware, probing, scraping); infringe intellectual property; or use it for spam or fraud.

Account & credentials

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

Intellectual property

We retain ownership of the service, its software, and branding. You retain ownership of the content you upload. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to provide and improve the service.

AI-generated output

Marginalia uses AI models to identify books, analyse libraries, generate recommendations, summaries, and roadmaps. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for verifying accuracy before relying on any recommendation. Outputs are not professional, financial, medical, or legal advice.

Subscriptions & payments

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms.

Marginalia Premium is billed annually at £39. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current period.

Service level

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties.

Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated policy violations. On termination we may delete account data after a reasonable export window.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the prior 12 months. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or special damages. Nothing limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law forbids exclusion.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Gallus Insight is established.
